FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS
Mentoring and navigation services –Powers of Attorney (PoAs). We work with families and individuals to navigate the complexities, responsibilities of PoAs in dealing with loved ones and their personal and property interests.
We provide advice and mentoring in facilitating the change journey, the considerations in moving to a PoA, raising awareness on compliance and oversight requirements, addressing financial planning including relationship and stakeholder management, as well as expectations management.
We also provide flexible ongoing strategic mentoring support and advice to PoAs.
Basia Ruta is the president of OnPoint Ruta Consulting Ltd. Her background includes extensive public sector experience at the most senior levels of government. Prior to starting her consulting practice in 2017, Basia held a number of senior positions in the federal government, including Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer at Environment Canada, and Assistant Comptroller General, Internal Audit.
In 2013-15 she was appointed as British Columbia’s first ever Auditor General for Local Government.
Since 2017, Basia has worked with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to navigate change and scaleups. In 2019, she expanded her reach and is now also involved in change management initiatives globally. Basia is also associated with Carleton University.
Since 2016, she has been an Executive-in-Residence at the Sprott School of Business. Her contribution includes research and a publication on performance audit in a book on Crossover of Audit and Evaluation Practices released in the spring of 2020.
Basia holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa and is a member of the Ontario Chartered Professional Accountants. She also holds a Chartered Director designation.
